New Updates to Our Interactive CDR Tool, TRACEcdr

Last year, AlliedOffsets and LSE’s Grantham Research Institute launched TRACEcdr, a free interactive tool designed to improve transparency in the carbon dioxide removal (CDR) market. TRACEcdr tracks developments in monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) protocols and links them to project and credit issuance data.

Since releasing the first version of the tool, we’ve made significant improvements to enhance usability and provide more insights into the CDR market. For example, the updated tool now includes:

  • New filters to distinguish between ‘novel’ and ‘conventional’ CDR methods
  • Lifecycle analysis features to explore whether a protocol uses attributional or consequential accounting, and how it addresses additionality, permanence, leakage, and baseline considerations
  • A summary dashboard offering a quick overview of market activity and protocol characteristics

The tool is now available at www.tracecdr.org and also features guest content, regular updates, and expanded analytical capabilities, including a network visualiser, protocol explorer, and summary statistics.

With these updates, TRACEcdr provides a more powerful way to track and explore MRV developments.
