Last week, the AlliedOffsets team headed to Pisa for our annual retreat, a chance to step away from the day-to-day, catch up, and reflect on where we’re going as a company. Here’s few highlights from the retreat.
We kicked things off with some sightseeing, with most of the team arriving early on Sunday to explore Pisa and tick off the Leaning Tower selfies. A few adventurous types rented scooters to zip around town, while others took the more leisurely bike route (with mixed mechanical success). That evening, we gathered at the villa for a surprise BBQ to celebrate Anton (co-founder of AlliedOffsets) 10-year anniversary at AlliedOffsets, complete with good food, lots of laughs, and a few too many bottles opened.
Team strategy session & wine tasting
Monday morning started strong with a team strategy session, a chance to align on big-picture goals, share ideas, and talk openly about where we’re heading. After a morning of hard work, the team was thirsty (!) and most headed off for wine tasting in the Tuscan hills. Meanwhile, a brave few chose to do a scenic bike ride, which started as a peaceful roll through the countryside and quickly became a test of mechanical resilience.
Tuesday rolled around with a change in weather, but not in spirits.
We spent the morning exploring the beautiful walled town of Lucca, cobblestones, castle walls, and even a surprise appearance from the Giro d’Italia made for quite the sightseeing combo. At one point, we spotted a very convincing Minnie lookalike…
Some unlucky team members got caught in the rain later that day, while others fully leaned into it (with varying degrees of enthusiasm, as captured perfectly in one very wet selfie). With outdoor plans scrapped, we wrapped things up back at the villa with pizza and a fiercely competitive general knowledge quiz to close out the trip.
By Wednesday, we were back in London, a little slower-moving, but recharged and full of ideas. It was a great few days to reconnect, reset, and remind ourselves why building AlliedOffsets together is something pretty special.
